At the conclusion of the focus group or interview, ask if there are any final comments or questions to finish up with. If the topic was sensitive, ask if the interview raised any concerns and have some information or follow-up prepared to give them in case it’s needed. Discuss any other follow up process, e.g. further contact with key stakeholders via email further down the research line.
Thank the participant/s for their time, and make sure they have been given the incentive before they leave.
It’s also a good idea to write down any notes you might have immediately after the interview – sometimes writing down 5 key ideas is a good way to make sure you’ve got a good grasp on the interview before moving on.
