In 2001, Sandar Duckworth and Liz Smith started Litmus. Initially, our work centred on public consultation and submission analysis, short-term in-house research placements in government agencies, and working on early programme evaluations.
Between 2005 and 2010, we expanded our business and strengthened our evaluation expertise. We undertook strategic multi-year assignments in cancer screening, rheumatic fever, HIV and AIDs, immunisation and maternal health.
In these years, we also started exporting our services. We completed assignments for the United Nations, New Zealand and Australian aid agencies and Pacific Island governments. We evaluated health, economic development and transport programmes, and designed and tested new initiatives.
Over the years, we have formed long standing alliances with Māori and Pacific consultants and sector experts to offer our clients an integrated service.
In recent years, we have conducted projects using human-centred design principles and processes. We have also launched a new story service for families, meaning we are now serving consumers as well as government agencies. Our journey and learning continues.
